WR-News recognises the special responsibility involved in reporting on children and issues affecting them.
All reporting involving children is guided by the best interests of the child, in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Our principles
- Children’s dignity, safety and privacy are paramount.
- We avoid identifying children unless there is a compelling public interest and informed consent.
- Images and descriptions are used with care and sensitivity.
- We do not sensationalise harm, trauma or vulnerability.
Trauma-sensitive reporting
WR-News applies trauma-informed standards, especially when reporting on conflict, abuse, displacement or humanitarian crises involving children.
Voices of children
When children’s perspectives are included, this is done respectfully, age-appropriately and without pressure or exploitation.
Safeguarding commitment
WR-News does not tolerate abuse, exploitation or harm to children in any form and expects the same standards from contributors and partners.
